![]() ![]() In 2023, it was announced that the site was going to be developed for an office tower. This former Gulf station was built in 1930. It appears to now house a Hertz car rental office. This building was used by George Decker Used Cars in the 1960s and 1970s. These may have both been built in the 1920s as Maloney Oil stations. This former station in Scranton is identical in design to the one in Lancaster shown above. By 2017, the building had been painted beige and was in use by the Shamrock Cafe located across the street. This former station was housing D&L Auto Accessories when these photos were taken. The Texaco stripes (now green) and the "Jackie Morgan" letters had been preserved. By 2012, the Texaco letters had been removed and the building was covered with siding. This former Texaco station was closed when this photo was taken in 2007. Today, the station is part of the Martin Oil Company chain. ![]() Around 1921, George Reighard took over the business. Since these 2007 photos, the shingles have been replaced with a standard metal shingle roof. The office was built of cinder block and the roof shingles from hardened concrete. In 1909, George Hinkle began selling gasoline here out of his blacksmith shop. Reighard's claims to be America's oldest gas station.
